Buju Banton(Mark Anthony Myrie), Jamaican reggae star is facing a drug charge in Florida and is under custody in Miami since Thursday.
Banton was arrested on a charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 5kg of cocaine.
The charge stems from a DEA case in Tampa.
Banton’s ninth album, “Rasta Got Soul,” is nominated being for a Grammy.
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation did also launch an online petition protesting the nomination, with their opinion that Banton’s earlier lyrics had advocated violence against gay and transgender people.
