50 Cent not performing at NYC fair

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg dismissed a report claiming rapper 50 Cent plans to perform at a fair in the rapper’s old neighborhood in Queens.

The New York Post said Bloomberg made the remarks after it reported the city’s police department was preparing for potential violence at the Aug. 30 event in Jamaica, Queens.

The rapper and former crack dealer, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, has a habit of wearing a bulletproof vest in public following a 2002 incident in the neighborhood in which he was shot nine times.

Law-enforcement sources told the newspaper they feared someone might try to assault him again if he performed in public there, but Bloomberg said the rapper isn’t scheduled to take the stage.

“Our understanding after talking with 50 Cent is he has no plans to perform whatsoever. He might go, but he’s not going to perform,” the Post quoted Bloomberg as saying.

Things that make you go hmmm… 50 kicks it with Lil Wayne Tour live

50 Cent took to the stage as a guest performer during a performance with Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy during the stop at the Honda Center.

The appearance is notable because the two rappers have traded disses on various mixtape and album tracks over the past several years, including a recent track titled “Play This On the Radio.”

Other artists that performed or made appearances during the evening included Young Jeezy, Teyana Taylor and Rihanna.

50 and Soulja Boy’s cozy relationship was revealed earlier this week, when MTV.com reported that the Queens-bred rapper bought the young emcee a studio tour bus for his 19th birthday.

“50 gave me a bus to record my album since I was on tour,” Soulja Boy told MTV.com during a stop on the America’s Most Wanted Music Festival.

The move could cause tension with headliner Lil Wayne, who has a history of sending subliminal messages towards 50 Cent, although Soulja Boy admitted he was simply trying to steal the show each night on the tour.

“I try to strive for my best. I respect everybody in the tour, likewise, but I’m trying to have the best show in the tour,” Soulja Boy said.

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

50-rossRick Ross plans to drop “Before I Self Destruct” before his rival and G-Unit boss, 50 Cent does.

The Florida rapper says he just finished the production on the new mixtape that has the same title as 50’s upcoming album. Ross isn’t holding him back and no one is trying to stop him, despite the rumors that exec’s at Def Jam had been telling Ross to stop talking about 50 Cent.

Island Def Jam Chairman L.A. Reid told MTV News there is no truth to it saying “I never had that kind of conversation with anybody. I don’t even know what that is.” Everyone seems to be playing both sides.
