Commercial Artist Drake talks about his new video

July 17th, 2010

Actor turned Commercial rapper Drake recently talked about the motivation behind his upcoming “Fancy” music video and said his Thank Me Later visual is strictly for the ladies.

For the video, Drizzy re-linked with his “Find Your Love” director, Anthony Mandler.

“It’s just made to make women feel special,” Drizzy told MTV News on the set of the video. “It’s a great performance video.” Drake teamed up with director Anthony Mandler, whom Drizzy dubs a “phenomenal cat” and who has, so far, helmed all the clips for Thank Me Later. Mandler, T.I. and Swizz Beatz all put in work on the “Fancy” video, but Drizzy was also geeked out about an artist who was grinding behind the scenes. Drake entrusted the clip’s footwork to renowned choreographer Fatima Robinson and gushed that working with the dance diva was “an honor in itself.”

Mashonda says she started taking pills when she found out Swizz Beatz was cheating on her

July 15th, 2010

Mashonda reveals that Swizz Beatz admitted to having an affair with Alicia Keys on Mother’s Day in 2008, six months after she had already learned of the relationship.

“I didn’t sleep for a whole year. I had to take pills to sleep because I’d wake up in the middle of the night crying,” Mashonda stated. “I couldn’t even look at my son some days because I didn’t have the strength and I never wanted him to feel my bad energy. It was a battle.”

Alicia Keys is currently about five months pregnant with Swizz Beatz child. According to reports, the couple is engaged to be married.

And despite a very public breakup and divorce from her ex-husband, Mashonda claims that she has never even spoken to Alicia Keys about the situation.

“I wished we could have done it a different way. If she would just acknowledge me… I was begging for this person to just talk to me, woman to woman,” Mashonda lamented.

As for Swizz, born Kaseem Dean, things in his new romance could not be better.

In addition to being a father again with Keys, the pair seem to have chemistry in their careers as well.

“Me and A.K., we just love music…when we in the studio, we work on a lot of things that ain’t planned,” Swizz Beatz told MTV News. “We was just in the studio vibing on some stuff for her album, vibing on some stuff for my album.”

Swizz Beatz is a producer not a rapper I will go on record saying his last album sucked. Like Ice Cube told Dr Dre on no vaseline Swizz Beatz stick to producing.

Lil Wayne Writes another Letter to his fans from Jail

July 14th, 2010

Hello world… I’m good. Counting the days and still smiling. Most of those smiles come from hearing my kids’ voices over the phone. The others come from reading fan mail. Let me just say that I have the best fans in the world! The devotion, dedication, support, love, and most of all, prayers are simply the best. I never imagined that I could have such an impact on people’s lives. Because of this, I vow to be a bit more careful of what I say.

Lil Wayne images http://hiphopstarship.com

So I’ve been writing and let me be the first to tell you that the lyrics that I’m writing are… well there’s no word that I can think of that properly defines them. Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair. I listen to the radio sometimes, emphasis on sometimes, and I hear the new music. I like some. I applaud my Young Money family for what they’re doing. As I’m not surprised. This is what we’re supposed to do. Congrats to Drake and Nicki for all their recent success. Those 2 are going to have me retiring early. I love my team. Much love to Tez and Mack. I know that people are inquisitive of what I do all day, so here goes. I wake up around 11AM. Have some coffee. Call my kids, and my wonderful mother. I then shower up. Read fan mail. Have lunch. Back on the phone. Read a book or write some thoughts down. Have dinner. Phone. Pushups. Then I listen to ESPN on the radio. Read the bible, then sleep. That’s my day.

I’ll end this letter, but never my love. I’m gone. Oh, and how ‘bout dem Lakers!?!

P.S. I thank my fans for appreciating me the way you do.

Tunechi.

Dollicia Bryan on Kim Kardashian I can never be famous for leaking a Sex Tape

July 13th, 2010

I have to agree with Dollicia on this one. Kim had the sex tape thing with Ray J  then the NFL stars were passing here around like a blunt. And now I think the NBA is passing her around. Any man who is walking around with her needs to hang his head in shame.

Bow Wow’s ex-girlfriend Dollicia Bryan shares a few controversial thoughts on reality star Kim Kardashian in her upcoming The Women of King cover feature.

Based on some excerpts from the fall 2010 issue, Bryan pokes fun at the the “Queen of Media.”

“Kim Kardashian is the Queen of media because she doesn’t necessarily sing or act or anything of that nature. Yet she’s always on the blogs, everyday…I can see the comparison; we have similar shaped bodies, very curvy. But we’re two different women. I’m a mother, so I can never be famous for leaking a sex tape…I’m not knocking what she did; she really took the negative and made it into a positive. I’m just saying there’s a huge difference between us. I’ll stay the Queen of talent and acting, but as far as being the Queen of who I’m dating and being in the media all the time she can stay the Queen of that.”

Pop Artist Will I am says he is Hip Hop

July 12th, 2010

Black Eyed Peas’ frontman Will.i.am has reminded rap fans of his position in hip-hop and promised to keep on winning.

When asked if he represented “real” hip-hop, Will addressed his critics.

“If there’s anyone that’s the personification of hip-hop, I’m probably the most hip-hop n*gga out of all these hip-hop n*ggas. But hip-hop editorial and blogs and even some of the hip-hop fans don’t see it that way, which is cool,” he said in an interview. “I’m going to win. I’m going to win and win bigger than all these n*ggas are winning…Hip-Hop is limiting itself and that also goes for editorially. Magazines and websites are the gatekeepers of what people think hip-hop is, but they actually end up limiting what hip-hop can be…If Nas calls me for another track, I can do that. But at the same time, if Usher calls me I can do an ‘OMG’ as well. Songs like ‘OMG’ are international hits, not just hits on American urban radio. I’m talking about the f*cking world!

Will I Am "Pop Star"
Will I Am “Pop Star”

This is true , Will I am has had some huge pop hits. But that said that is exactly what they are pop hits. Will I am is not Hip Hop and has never been known as Hip Hop. When he does concerts they are pop concerts , they are not Hip Hop concerts. I think when some of these artists get really big and sell alot of albums they get delusional and think they are bigger than a genre or art form. This is not the case. Will I am is a Pop radio hits star and he needs to stick to what he knows and avoid claiming he is a Hip Hop Star. Lets get real.

Rick Ross says the 50 Cent Beef is over

July 12th, 2010

Rick Ross recently reflected on his past issues with 50 Cent and said he is responsible for polluting music.

Ross says he has learned to move forward and focus on making business moves.

“That’s the beauty of art,” Ross told us. “You can take it and channel it any way you want to. Of course, I realize I put a lot of pollution out there as well that I wouldn’t this year. That was a part of me learning. I’ll forever be attracted to some form or fashion of war. I feel it’s competitive but at the same time, I’m focused on my numbers. I’m focused on my business. I’m focused on my brand. I wanna see other things blossom around me, versus back-and-forth with nothing. For the most part, I feel when you prioritize your business, that’s the result — that’s the advice I’ve been given for so long. I’m trying it out.”

rick ross images http://hiphopstarship.com

Last month, 50 said he never reached out to make a truce with Ross.

“I never had a conversation with him. My focus shifted during that record. A lot of times, earlier in my career, I was competing with artists because that was what I loved about hip-hop: The idea that battling someone was necessary to defend your spot and you had to take on all challengers — so I did that constantly. No one thinks that way now and everyone looks at me like I’m the Broad Street Bully. The younger kids coming up missed that time frame, and even the conscious rap is gone too. The stuff that Common Sense and Talib Kweli and Mos Def were rhyming about. What was socially conscious and responsible about the music has been replaced by hipster kids in skinny jeans and mohawks. Of course, that’s always been around, but it was usually confined to the Village. Artists have always had the opportunity to influence the culture, but now it’s the other way around: They’re trying to look like their audience to attract their audience. Now you can’t tell the difference between a Led Zeppelin fan and a hip-hop fan.”

Eminem Pulls a OG Move and Requests transportation to the Stage in Europe

July 11th, 2010

Eminem needed Help thru a Backstage concert mud hole. Im with EM Why get your sneakers dirty when you dont have to.

Eminem reportedly refused to walk 40ft to the stage for his headlining performance at T In The Park yesterday. The rapper, 37, is alleged to have been concerned that he would get mud on his trainers and demanded transportation to take him to the stage. According to the Sunday Mail, organisers had to rush to hire a coach for him. He then walked to the coach with plastic bags on his feet. (Digital Spy)

The delay forced Em to keep fans waiting for over nearly an hour.

The stroppy Slim Shady star was 40 minutes late on the main stage because he would not walk across a muddy road to get there. Instead, T in the Park organisers were forced to hire a coach to transport the tough-guy rapper in case his trainers got dirty. Eminem, 37, walked from his dressing room to the coach with plastic bags round his feet. The driver turned right, drove 40ft, and stopped to let his delicate passenger off again. But neither the headliner hold-up nor the rain could dampen the spirits of the massive crowd. (Daily Record)

While at the event, Em performed new records from his latest album, Recovery.

The undoubted star of the show, Eminem keeps fans waiting. And waiting. And waiting. After a near half hour wait the lights go up and the Detroit rapper emerges in spectacular form from the floor of the Main Stage. Arriving to a hero’s welcome Eminem proves that rap can exist as a stadium commodity. Deeply ingrained in American culture, the Detroit star’s music nonetheless transgresses such trifling difficulties as the Atlantic ocean. Playing the bulk of new album ‘Recovery’ the rapper finishes with a medley of classic hits when Eminem seemed to throw grenades in American culture with almost carefree style. (Clash Music)

His new album has already sold over a million copies in just 14 days.
