Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Despite being confident in Wayne, B.G. said he wished the jail bid would take place in their hometown, New Orleans.

“Eight months?,” he questioned in an interview. “Sh*t, man, I done ten months standing on top of my head. So, it shouldn’t be hard for him.

I wish he was in New Orleans, where it’da be better for him. New York got a lot of love for him. But you know how n*ggas try to test n*ggas who on top of the game or whatever. Me personally, they a have to put me in [general] population. ‘Cause I’ll fight. They couldn’t put me in no 23/1. I couldn’t live like that. So, I mean, what he rap about, the true him ’bout to come out, whether he be in protective custody or whether he be in population. Every jail is different. I never been to Rikers Island. I been to jail in Atlanta. I been to jail in Texas. I been to jail in Detroit. I been to jail in New Orleans. I never been to jail in New York so — I done seen DVD’s on how they be slashing people and doing this, doing that. But, you know, I’m a man. And I could live anywhere. You could put me in the woods with the lions, tigers and bears and I’ma find a way to survive.”

Vick leaves prison and will spend the last few months of his sentence on home confinement

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

michael-vickFormer Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick left a federal prison in Leavenworth, Kansas, before dawn early Wednesday. Vick slipped undetected past waiting cameras and reporters and headed to Virginia by car to begin two months of home confinement – his house looks a little nicer than Leavenworth. The drive from Leavenworth to his home is roughly 1000 miles.

Vick, 28, pleaded guilty in August 2007 to a federal charge of bankrolling a dogfighting operation at a home he owned in Virginia.

Vick was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He played six seasons for the Falcons, earning Pro Bowl status three times. He was suspended by the NFL after his guilty plea.

He will return to professional football as soon as September if reinstated by the NFL, according to the sports agent who negotiated Vick’s 10-year, $140 million contract with the Falcons.

Commissioner Roger Goodell, who suspended Vick indefinitely in August 2007, has said he will review Vick’s status after his criminal case is concluded. He has said Vick will have to persuade him and the public that he is genuinely sorry for his crime, that he has been changed by his experience and that he is committed to leading a different life.

Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank said Wednesday that Vick has paid his debt to society and merits a second chance. Blank said the quarterback is taking positive steps by wanting to work with humane societies and making other changes in his life.

Meanwhile, Vick’s attorneys have said he will work at a Newport News construction firm following his release, and he has also agreed to participate in a documentary for $600,000.  The Humane Society of the United States said Tuesday that Vick met its president recently in prison and wants to work on a program aimed at eradicating dogfighting among urban teens.

Snoop Dogg in court for hitting man in the head with his Mic

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Snoop Dogg appeared in court in California on Friday (24Apr09) to fight a civil lawsuit from a man who alleges he was assaulted by the rapper in 2005.

Richard Monroe, Jr. is seeking $22 million in damages and punitive penalties from Snoop Dogg over claims the hip-hop star and his entourage attacked him during a concert at the White River Amphitheater on the outskirts of Seattle, Washington.

Monroe Jr. alleges the rapper – real name Calvin Broadus – hit him with a microphone after he jumped on stage and put his hand on the star’s shoulder. He then claims Broadus’ security guards hauled him off and delivered a savage beating.

Lil Waynes documentary The Carter by QD3 Entertainment will be released globally

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

A state court judge denied Lil Waynes request to stop the documentary’s worldwide release.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael S. Mink denied Wayne’s request for a preliminary injunction this week. QD3 executive Quincy Jones III said the ruling frees his company to seek distribution of the film. “We’re very pleased with the court’s decision,” Jones said. “We made a great film, which was incredibly well received at Sundance, and showcases Lil Wayne’s extraordinary talent.”
Weezy filed the lawsuit earlier this month regarding a “scandalous portrayl” of himself in the Sundance documentary.
Check out the teaser:

The suit charges that Bernie Madoff’s movie production company promised to give Lil Wayne approval over the final cut, but they didn’t. One of the defendants is Quincy Jones’ son, Quincy Delight Jones III who often goes by the pseudonym QD3.

Wayne allowed Digerati Holdings and QD3 Entertainment to shoot a docu-film about him. The movie company, in turn, promised to give him approval over the final cut. In early December last year, the companies screened the film for Lil Wayne’s manager, who advised them to remove objectionable content from the film. They sent another clip in January to the manager for review and approval. The manager once more demanded that all objectionable content be removed. Instead of doing so, they allegedly presented a “scandalous portrayal” of the rapper at Sundance without his approval.

In other legal news, Weezy was forced to turn over financial information on his latest album Tha Carter III to a folk singer who had accused him of copyright infringement.

U.S. Magistrate Daniel Knowles III ordered the New Orleans rapper to hand over records about the sale of 2008′s Tha Carter III. Karma-Ann Swanepoel claims in a federal lawsuit filed in May that Lil Wayne didn’t have permission to sample her song “Once” in the track “I Feel Like Dying.” The lawsuit says Lil Wayne’s record label, Cash Money Records, failed to negotiate a license to use Swanepoel’s song before millions of people downloaded “I Feel Like Dying.”

Scott Storch Busted For Alleged Bentley Theft

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

storchThis one flew under the radar screen for months, but we just learned Scott Storch — formerly a wildly wealthy music producer for the likes of Dr. Dre and 50 Cent — has been charged with grand theft auto.

Storch allegedly leased a Bentley but never returned it after the expiration date. It took the leasing company 7 months to find it.

Storch pled not guilty in Broward County Court last Friday.

Fun Fact: Lil Kim had a Bentley repossessed back in ’08 — which just happened to be a gift from none other than Storch himself. We don’t know if it’s the same Bentley.
