Jay-Z and Eminem. They’re certainly the biggest concerts Detroit has seen this year: a pair of tag-team evenings with Eminem and Jay-Z at Comerica Park.
A total of more than 80,000 fans will descend onto the stadium tonight and Friday for the hip-hop spectaculars, which some are calling the most important rap concerts in history.
For Eminem, whose 2005 show at Comerica Park preceded a rocky few years off the public radar, this week culminates a triumphant comeback that has propelled him back to the top of the charts. And for hometown fans, it’s a chance for the sort of larger-than-life party that Detroit knows how to do well.
Im sure this will be the Concert of the Year, they are doing 4 shows and all are sold out. Only these 2 could pack 80,000 into a Hip Hop show. All of young money Lil Wayne,Nicki and Drake could not come close to filling a stadium up.
Eminem nominated for 8 MTV Video Music Awards
Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010MTV has announced that Eminem and pop star Lady Gaga lead all nominees for a Moonman Award during MTV’s 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.
Lady Gaga racked up thirteen nominations this year, while Eminem came in second with a total of 8 nods.
Songs like “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” earned the pop singer nominations for “Video of the Year,” “Best Collaboration” and “Best Female Video,” while rapper Eminem is vying for “Best Male Video” and “Video of the Year” amongst others, for his song “Not Afraid.”
“Apparently MTV doesn’t care that I have two massive stadium shows on the other side of the country the day after the VMA’s. F me, right?!?!,” Eminem said in a statement released today August 3rd. “I mean, I’ll be there but don’t expect me to be nice about it.”
Other nominees include Jay-Z and Alicia Keys for “Empire State of Mind,” Swizz Beatz and Jay-Z for “On to the Next One,” Kid Cudi, MGMT & Ratatat for “Pursuit Of Happiness,” Justin Bieber and Ludacris for “Baby” and others.
The 27th Annual MTV Video Music Awards will air love from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12th at 9:00 PM.
Pink said she was scared Eminem might Diss her on a Song
Monday, July 26th, 2010Last month, Em shared his admiration toward Pink and reasoned his decision to collaborate with her.
Eminem has described singer Pink as “a rebel” when speaking about a new collaboration, to be included on the rapper’s forthcoming seventh album Recovery. Speaking to Radio 1′s Fearne Cotton, Eminem said: “I’ve always respected what she does. “When we did the track I heard her on it and knew vocally she’d smash it.”
Pink shared her admiration of Eminem and revealed her initial fear of him selecting her as a target during the rapper’s past run at dissing pop culture artists.
Pink also revealed how she became involved on Eminem’s Recovery track, “Won’t Back Down.”
“I think he’s one of the most poetic, ballsy, and hilarious people this industry has ever seen,” Pink told SPIN magazine. Unlike her pop peers Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Jessica Simpson, Pink was spared Em’s wrath in his songs. “I was always afraid he’d pick me as a target, but he’s always been nice to me and finally approached me to be on the album, so I must have done something right,” said the flattered singer.

Eminem reportedly refused to walk 40ft to the stage for his headlining performance at T In The Park yesterday. The rapper, 37, is alleged to have been concerned that he would get mud on his trainers and demanded transportation to take him to the stage. According to the Sunday Mail, organisers had to rush to hire a coach for him. He then walked to the coach with plastic bags on his feet. (Digital Spy)
The delay forced Em to keep fans waiting for over nearly an hour.
The stroppy Slim Shady star was 40 minutes late on the main stage because he would not walk across a muddy road to get there. Instead, T in the Park organisers were forced to hire a coach to transport the tough-guy rapper in case his trainers got dirty. Eminem, 37, walked from his dressing room to the coach with plastic bags round his feet. The driver turned right, drove 40ft, and stopped to let his delicate passenger off again. But neither the headliner hold-up nor the rain could dampen the spirits of the massive crowd. (Daily Record)

“I’ve been helping Eminem over the last 18 months and he’s doing brilliantly,” John told BBC radio.
John didn’t discuss any details, but in 2005 Eminem entered rehab for addiction to sleeping pills and then took a three-year hiatus.
“It’s no secret I had a drug problem,” he later told Vibe magazine.
“If I was to give you a number of Vicodin I would actually take in a day? Anywhere between 10 to 20. Valium, Ambien, the numbers got so high I don’t even know what I was taking.”
He also nearly overdosed on methadone, a heroin substitute.
Elton John also battled drugs and booze throughout his career but says he has been sober since the ’80s.
The “Rocket Man” singer has counseled other celebrity addicts, including the late Michael Jackson, but says he doesn’t force his advice on anyone.
“I’m there if people want my help,” he said in the BBC interview that aired yesterday.
“If people ask for help you tell them where to go but there’s no point advising people if they don’t want to do it.”
